5 Important Things To Look For In A Photographer

Sure, their exceptional photos that you fell in love with are important, but you will be spending the entire day with them! So you need to check off a few other boxes too.

Versatility

Is your photographer rigid or are they able to go with the flow? Sometimes you plan everything perfectly, but inevitably, something will go awry. It could be big or small and hopefully for you nothing does! But can your photographer deal with the spontaneous? Are they capable of going with the flow and assist with getting everything back on track? You need a photographer who can stay calm and think clearly when you are doing everything but that.

Personality

I’m not going to lie, I am a bit biased as I write this but I whole heartedly believe the personality of your photographer is one of the most important factors in choosing who you choose. The reason I say this, you are going to spend a MASSIVE chunk of your day with this person and this is s very important day for you. So, the best candidate.. someone who is positive and energetic! So become a super creeper, check their insta and facebook, check their website, read their bio. Don’t forget to straight up Google them.

Along with positivity, a ‘can-do’ attitude goes a long way. Make sure they are willing to listen to you and act professionally. Here’s a link to my bio!

Photo Style

Do you connect with their work? This is the part where everyone tries to understand the different photography terms. Throw all of that out the window and look at their work, does it resonate with you? If yes, then you can make sure they cover everything you want covered on your wedding day.

Priorities

Do they care about you? When you talk, do they listen? Will they help with your timeline or can you bounce ideas off of them? Do they feel like a friend? This is important. The last thing you want is to feel intimidated or uncomfortable around your photographer. The moment you sign the contract, you should feel like their friend, you could hang out or go shopping together (likely that you wont, but do you feel like you could?) You want to feel at ease, it really does make for a better photo experience.

Reviews, Recommendations & Testimonials

This is a big one. It speaks for itself, but I will say, check for them in more places then their website. Check google too.
