Adventure Engagement Sessions Are Kind Of A Big Deal.

So is what you wear to them.

The outfits you choose to wear to your engagement session will set the tone and feel of your photos. So I am going to help you get started! I would love to assist you with curating outfits that fit your unique personality and style, removing any questions or doubt about what you should wear. Besides, you need to worry about having fun with your partner and not what you’re wearing.

First things first: Confidence!

It is extremely important to wear what you feel epic in! It goes a long way. If you feel confident, it will shine through into your photos. Your outfit could be as simple as jeans and a t-shirt or a beautiful flowy maxi dress or somewhere in between. These photos need to represent your personalities and fully embody you. Your style, your personality and your confidence. Own it!

Keep yours eyes to the skies!

Always dress for the weather. This may seem self explanatory but sometimes it really is hard to part with the cute outfit you were excited to wear but the weather has turned out chilly and now you have to change. I want you to be able to relax and enjoy spending time with your partner without being stressed or uncomfortable and shivering through your photos. On the flip side, if you are wearing a sweater and it’s hotter than ever out. It’s best to avoid the sweat sheen on your forehead, it doesn’t match wool sweaters.

That being said, I am not saying you can’t wear those outfits on these days, but maybe bring them to change into for a couple photos so you aren’t uncomfortable the whole time.

Theres no such thing as being too dressy!

Being the most formally dressed in a space makes you feel stunning. You can walk into a quaint coffee shop and the room feels the confidence seeping off of you. Everyone admires you and it shows in your pictures. Knowing you are the best dressed in a space, it gives anyone that feeling of excitement. You can even rock some fancy clothes on a beach or out in a park. There is no right or wrong way to wear formal attire.

However, I always recommend bringing your heels to put on for the photos rather than trying to trek around in them. You could even go as far as bringing your formal attire to put on discreetly in a corner behind your partner. Isn’t that what they’re for? Helping you secretly change in a semi private space.

Speaking of outfits

I always recommend not wearing matching outfits. It’s something you try not to do as a couple when you go out in general, so why would you want to do it for a photo? If you want to look epic beside your partner, I would recommend using complimentary colours. They photograph so well and you guys will look so cute together!!

If it’s cold outside during your session, I recommend layers, things that can be removed for practical purposes but also changed up for different photos. I also recommend avoiding large logos and crazy designs or patterns. Simplicity is best and also give your photos more of a timeless feel to them and allow for you guys to be the focus of the image.

It’s always fun to bring an extra outfit to your session too. You can have two styles, one dressier outfit and one more casual one. This is again where I like to reiterate my feeling about wearing flats and bringing heels if they’re wanting them for the photos. We may hike across a beach or through a forest trail. Who knows, it’s an adventure!

Props and Accessories? Sure, why not.

Sometimes a cute prop can add a little fun to a couple photos. You can be super chic by keeping it as simple as a hat and sunglasses or extra cutesy and have signs that say “save the date” or any variation of this. Other fun ideas are bringing a blanket to create a cozy feel and it could be as elaborate as a picnic, wine glasses and books. All of these ideas would completely depend on your personality. These pictures are an extension of you and what your interests are. So if props aren’t your thing, maybe a fur-baby is. Props or no props, the sky is the limit! This cute couple used a coffee shop in their adventure! Check out their engagement session here.

Hair & Makeup - yay or nay?

I always recommend getting hair and makeup done professionally, but it’s not a deal breaker. So if you know how to make yourself feel and look great. You’re all set! But if you want an extra confidence boost go see the professional, and if you really want, get your nails done too. After all, you will have an epic ring on your finger to show off.
